UX Designer seeking team

Hi everyone, I'm a UX designer with some front-end skills looking to join forces with some great people. I'm excited to be a part of this. I have a lot of responsive design experience and am an iOS user but am relatively versatile because I work for an agency. Interested in sharing design skills and learning more about development.

    Hi Alexa,
    I've been conversing with 3 other women via the women who code meetup page who might be coming on over to register here and interested in teaming up. With you, if it works out for everyone after we brainstorm, we'd have the requisite 5 person team and probably a complementary set of skills between us all. One of the others also has iOS.

    Hi ladies
    This is my first hackathon, so I'm learning as I go! I have just finished a rails/javascript bootcamp. My background is data analysis if that is helpful (also management consulting, which is probably less helpful). I'm most interested in the Riders challenge. Free to meet for coffee or similar pre tomorrow evening if that is helpful?

    This is also my first hackathon. I'm a novice coder - I've taken a Java course and have built a basic Android calculator app. My background is in data privacy law, and I'm also available to meet before the event.

    Junior Dev looking for a team. I am thinking of focusing on the Vital Voices Challenge. Most experience in Python but have been doing some iOS. Also have light experience with APIs, frameworks and databases.

    Anyone interested in the Vital Voices Challenge?

    I'm experienced at hackathons. As far as I can tell, we need to have a project idea ready, based upon the agenda, to enter as a submission during the first hour of the event tomorrow. Its generally a good idea to get started asap before the event, even if also meeting for coffee just before the event tomorrow too. Anyone available to brainstorm (here/phone/?) starting this evening?

    yeah, I was also thinking about vital voices, or could do the riders project. I think we'd need someone to have experience with google maps and/or GIS to do riders...

    @acflewis : I'm available but I was assuming we'd meet remotely this evening (and there was suggestion we meet in person just before the event tomorrow)...not sure what everyone else wants to do...

    So are we meeting at WickedGrounds for a Vital Voices project?

    @laurloch, yeah I like the riders project but don't have any experience with maps and would make it really hard to be a viable product without that.

    Who's available when and where?

    I was originally thinking chat online tonight, hopefully come up with the basic project that way tonight, communicate as needed over tomorrow, meet for coffee just before event tomorrow. I don't think I could make it in person to for coffee tonight.

    Also I agree, @4grim less travel more time to be prepared and ace this. google chat can work for me.

    I'll be busy from now for about an hour, then check back to see if enough people can chat online (tentatively 6 or 6:30 or so?)

    FYI - You all sound incredibly talented and experienced so just want to say that this is my first programming event, never done competitions or hackathons or any of that sort. That's my disclaimer :)

    I'm working from home today so if we can do online I can jump on whenever. I don't have a car so traveling at 6pm means maybe 2hr on public transit because of rush hour.

    Is everyone else available for an online chat tonight?

    acflewis? mmzore? jossie? alexaroman? laurloch?

    Another thing to consider is that teams are max 5 people so if anyone is not into the Vital Voices project then speak up and we might be able to split into other teams as well.

    There is a 5 person team limit. Looks good. Everyone please confirm and Chime-in with the time you're available.

    I can be available at 6pm or later tonight.

    I think the vital voices is good. Lots of different possible data sources available, and probably doesn't require any specialty we may not have. But if the team wants to first consider other projects that's fine with me too.

    Hey everyone - I can't do 5, but probably could make 5:30/6 via phone or google hangout.

    I'm interested in the UN Women challenge, UNICEF and Chime for Change, but open to Vital Voices as well. I just can think of more ideas for some of the other challenges.
